Coolit Tips

Using the Automatic Optimizer

OptimizeIt now contains a powerful new design optimization tool. To use it, select Automatic Optimization on the Study Type page and enter the design parameters, the design constraints, and the design objective. OptimizeIt will then automatically find the optimal design for you. Using OptimizeIt will save you time and take the guesswork out of optimizing your thermal design.

Working with CoolPlot

CoolPlot's display of computed results, vectors, scalars, streamlines, palettes etc. can now be controlled from one easy-to-use Options dialog accessible from the Tools|Options menu. Once opened, the dialog’s intuitive controls are used to interactively adjust the results display. While the changes are made, the display can be rotated, zoomed in and out, and panned.

New Features

More efficient handling of large models

Coolit's geometry processor has recently been optimized for handling super large models with thousands of components. Models, which used to take a few seconds to refresh after each operation, now update virtually instantly.

New CAD import coming soon

A new CAD import interface is expected to be available in the next Coolit release. The new interface makes it possible to interactively import your STL files part by part, so that you can import different CAD parts into specific Coolit objects, such as Cylinders, Fans, etc. A number of options will be available including import resolution, color selection, and part physical properties. A number of improvements to the import algorithm have also been made, making the transition from CAD to Coolit smoother than ever.
